Jessica is an amazing beautiful girl, very dear friend of mine, fantastic
cosplayer that I admired for a long time, She is a die hard Lara fan, very sweet
girl! I wanted to interview her so our readers could get to know her better :)
so here she is... |

1- Tell us about yourself.
"Well, it’s not easy to say something about myself… My name is Jessica
Loyola, I live in Brazil, I’m a student, 18 years old, I begun cosplay Lara
officially at 14 years, before that was just tries with no success. I try to do
the best I can with what is in my scope. I love rock/metal music especially
Gothic/Symphonic Metal. I cosplay, sing and draw clothes especially corsets, as
hobby. I love read books and study Biology and English, well I’m a person open
to learning life and people around me. I love my family, animals and friends,
the ones who are always there for me, I’m always there for them too. " |

2- Why do you cosplay Lara, what does it mean to you?
"I cosplay Lara because she means a lot to me, she’s been an inspiration
since I met her for the first time when I was 10. She is brave, intelligent,
skillful, mature and very beautiful! this combination makes a perfect
essence that makes her my favourite heroine, makes Lara so original and perfect,
a big inspiration for people who are fans of her. A lot of women would like to
be like her. I believe that me and every other cosplayer of Lara has a piece of
her essence within themselves. What makes each cosplayer special by the way they
are and by the way they represent Lara. I made a lot of friends because of
cosplay, of course enemies too, but I make friends who I learned much with them
and I thank them to have appeared at my life. I love being Lara Croft
cosplayer!" |

3- How did you first hear about lara?
"My first time hearing about Lara was at my aunt’s house, my cousin was
playing Tomb Raider 3 for PS one, and asked me to play with him, I begun to play
and totally found myself in love with Lara, I was 10. But I didn’t have a
console in my house, only after my father bought PS two, my PC back then was a
windows 95, I couldn’t install Tomb Raider Games" |

4- How long have you been a lara fan?
"Since 10 years old,
well, it’s already been 8 years." |
5- When did you get into cosplay?
"In 2008, I was 14 years old and recently known the word and world
cosplay" |

6- How do you assemble your outfits?
"As Lara would say “With patience and persistence” (rs). I don’t have an
order to begin, sometimes with the outfit, sometimes with the accessories. I’m
not a very organized person in this point, maybe that’s why I have a lot of
unfinished costumes… But I try to do the best I can, most look a like as
possible. The accessories are the most difficult ones for me, I live in a
country witch is illegal buy things like replica guns. Everything is done by me.

9- What do you think of the movies?
"Tomb Raider Movies are good, but it’s made in a manner not much loyal to
the game, everyone who is not a fan, thinks Lara is only the movie or only
Angelina Jolie.
She did a good work, the best actress for Lara in my opinion. The director fail
in the visual of the braid and hair, I love the black outfit that she wears, I
think Lara should use more that outfit on game. Well, Lara in the game shows
such femininity and aggression, I just saw aggression with not much feelings." |

10- What is your favourite boss fight/puzzle in your favourite game?
"The Unknown thing on TR Legend, Amanda’s host." |

11- How do you feel about the new origins story?
"In the beginning I
felt like they have betrayed Lara’s fans changing her so. But after I realize
it’s a good point bring back her origins as much human than never was feeling
pain, thirsty, hungry, fear, cold and even bleeding, things that she never
showed before, being almost a superhuman.
It makes me think how did she developed such strong, skills and knowledge. Her
appearance looks really younger and more natural than the other games, with the
same style, what’s great in my opinion, I loved her new costume, remember the
classics ones, , I loved the bow and arrow too, it’s very epic equipment. For me
it’s a intelligent reboot, bringing Lara into a world much real where she really
is fighting to survive" |

12- What is the one item you would add to the croft outfit?
"Corsets for sure! Corsets are my passion and I would like so if Lara
had a outfit official with one corset. I saw one fan art once with Lara wearing
one, I have this image since 2008 on my PC. I would love see Lara in a look just
like Selene from Underworld, so amazing…" |

13- Who takes your photos, and what kind of equipment do you use?
"My photos in the beginning was shot by my mother and sometimes my cousins. But
since 2010 I take them on my own, I prepare the camera to shoot me
automatically. When it’s a other place that I cannot find support to the camera,
it’s my boyfriend who takes them for me.
My equipments aren’t professional ones, I use a sony camera w130, isn’t
professional but does a good work. Someday I will take professional shoots.!" |

14- What are your favorite qualities that Lara upholds?
"Her intelligence, skills, interests, beauty, she’s all amazing and
perfect." |

15- What is your dream Lara croft costume?
"Goth – Lace shirt." |
 |
16- Do you have any advice for first time cosplayers?
"You will find a lot of people with prejudgment, people who will want to
pull you down, but don’t give up, those ones are too small to understand how big
you are ;). Make cosplay is always a challenge and in much time you will have
incidentals with the costume.
Try to do the best you can, but don’t blame yourself if something don’t get into
the way you wish to, you will always make better if keep doing and trying. Honor
the persons at your side, the really good friends, the ones who likes and the
ones who loves you, they will always help as they can. And don’t forget the best
part of all, get fun!!!" |

"In first I would like to thank Sara and laracroftcosplay.com to gave me
this opportunity to share this questions with you all! It’s was a really
pleasure to answer and share my experiences. Thanks Sara, you’re amazing! She’d
brought a lot of cosplayers closer, that now she created a world just for us,
helping each other, and shes’s a great cosplayer too!
I always love to cosplay Lara, but I have to stopped for a while, unfortunately
now I’m unstable and a lot of things happened. But I will be back for sure soon
as I can!
